Christian Counseling in Houston, Texas

You Deserve a Space Where You Can Just Be Yourself.

•       You may be navigating family tension around who you love, whether that is your own family, your partner's, or both.

•       You have felt the weight of choosing between living your truth and maintaining your relationships or your reputation in spaces that are not always accepting.

•       You want support, but past experiences with therapists who did not fully understand or affirm your identity have made you cautious about trying again.

•       You are carrying anxiety, stress, or depression that is directly tied to the particular pressures of being queer in a world that is not always safe or affirming.

•       You are ready for a therapist who does not just tolerate who you are, but genuinely gets it.

The challenges LGBTQ+ individuals and couples face are real, layered, and often invisible to people who have never had to navigate them. The stress of coming out, managing family dynamics, experiencing discrimination, or simply existing in spaces not designed with you in mind takes a toll that deserves to be addressed by someone who actually understands what you are up against. At Unload It Therapy, you are not an afterthought. You are exactly who we are here for.

You Should Not Have to Educate Your Therapist

If you have been to therapy before and experienced microaggressions, felt judged, or had to spend your sessions explaining your identity instead of actually working through your challenges, we hear you. That is not what therapy is supposed to feel like, and it is not what it feels like here. Our therapists are not just affirming in principle. They are actively trained, consistently learning, and deeply committed to creating a space where every client feels respected, seen, and safe enough to do real work.

You should not have to earn your safety in the therapy room. It should already be there when you walk in.

What You Are Carrying Is Real. And It Is a Lot.

LGBTQ+ individuals face significantly higher rates of anxiety, depression, and trauma than the general population, and research consistently links this not to identity itself but to the chronic stress of navigating a world that does not always affirm it.1 Minority stress, which includes the ongoing experience of stigma, discrimination, and the pressure to conceal or defend who you are, has measurable effects on mental and physical health. This is not a personal failing. It is a rational response to an environment that asks too much.

LGBTQ Affirming Therapy Is for All of It

Our LGBTQ affirming therapy covers the full range of what you might be navigating, whether that is anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship challenges, family conflict, coming out, identity exploration, or the specific pressures of being queer in professional or community spaces. It also covers every service we offer at Unload It Therapy, including individual therapy, couples and marriage counseling, premarital counseling, and family therapy. Your identity is not a specialty filter. It is simply part of who you are, and it is honored in everything we do here.

LGBTQ Individual Therapy: Support for You, as You Are

Our individual LGBTQ therapy is for the person who is ready to stop managing everything alone and start working through what is actually going on. Whether you are navigating identity, processing past experiences, dealing with anxiety or depression, working through family estrangement, or simply trying to build a life that feels more like yours, individual therapy gives you a dedicated space to do that work.

What Individual Sessions Look Like

Individual sessions run 50 minutes and are entirely focused on you. We start by creating the kind of space where you can actually relax and share what is going on without editing yourself. From there we work to understand what you are navigating and what you are hoping to get out of the process. We do not just listen. We give you practical tools, help you get to the root of what is keeping you stuck, and walk alongside you as you move toward the life you actually want.

Clients who do this work describe feeling more grounded in who they are, less controlled by fear or anxiety, and more capable of navigating the challenges that come with being authentically themselves in a world that does not always make that easy.

LGBTQ Couples Therapy: For You and Your Partner, Together

LGBTQ couples face all of the same relationship challenges any couple navigates: communication breakdowns, disconnection, conflict, and the slow drift that happens when life gets busy, plus the additional layers that come with being a queer couple in a world that does not always recognize or support your relationship the way it deserves to be. Our LGBTQ couples therapy is built to hold all of that.

What Couples Sessions Look Like

Our couples sessions run 80 minutes because we have found that real work takes time, and 50 minutes is often just long enough to open something up without having the space to actually work through it. You and your partner will work together with your therapist to understand the cycle that has been keeping you stuck and find a different way to reach each other. Each partner also completes an individual session so your therapist can fully understand each person's history, needs, and attachment patterns before bringing everything back into the room together.

Couples who do this work describe a shift in how they communicate, how they handle conflict, and how connected they feel to each other. Integrating families, navigating external pressures, and setting boundaries that protect the relationship all become more manageable when you have the right tools and a therapist who actually understands your dynamic
